Comcast Partners with CT State Police to Launch 'Police Blotter On Demand'

Partnership Delivers Unprecedented Assistance In Solving Connecticut Unsolved 'Cold Cases'

BERLIN, Conn., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, the nation's leading provider of entertainment, information and communications, today announced that it has joined forces with the Connecticut State Police to launch a new tool that will help track down the fugitives responsible for some of the state's unsolved crimes and bring them to justice. "Police Blotter On Demand" is the first public service programming of its kind in Connecticut to utilize video-on-demand to expose dangerous fugitives and enhance public safety.

Through Comcast's signature On Demand service, digital cable customers can tune into "Police Blotter On Demand" to view photographs and short descriptions of 10 different cold cases. Viewers who have information regarding a featured fugitive or that could lead to the solving of one of these unsolved crimes will be directed to call the Connecticut State Police at 860-685-8190. Callers have the option to remain anonymous.

"We remain committed to promoting public safety and providing On Demand programming that is meaningful to our local community," said Michael Parker, Vice President for Comcast in Connecticut. "This new service presents an opportunity to leverage the reach and popularity of On Demand to expose unsolved crimes or suspects to a wider audience and increase chances of their apprehension."

The Connecticut State Police will identify the cold case or fugitives to be featured through the innovative On Demand service. Each crime profiled on Police Blotter is either a wanted person or an unsolved case that the Connecticut State Police is actively working to close. The cases involve violent crimes including murder, assault, rape and gang violence, among others.

"The Connecticut State Police continues to work hard in pursuit of each and every fugitive and closure to every unsolved case. Our important partnership with Comcast gives a large segment of the public a very convenient means to provide us with critical leads," said John A. Danaher III, Commissioner of Public Safety for the State of Connecticut. "We believe this service can make a difference in ongoing investigations and help provide a safer environment for all Connecticut residents."

Police Blotter segments are available under the "Get Local" folder found through the On Demand menu. As fugitives are captured, their profiles will be removed and others will be added.

Comcast's On Demand service offers a growing library of more than 10,000 programs available anytime customers want to watch them - with the ability to fast forward, rewind and pause selections. The vast majority of On Demand programming is available at no additional cost to digital cable customers. Comcast customers have watched more than 11 billion On Demand programs since the service first launched in 2003.
