Ellen to leave ‘American Idol’ U.S. 2010-07-30 05:29:59 (GMT) WiredPRNews.com – Ellen DeGeneres is set to leave “American Idol” after a year of being a judge on the program. As reported by Access Hollywood, the comedian and daytime talk show host recently discussed her plans and her feelings surrounding her decision. DeGeneres is quoted by Access Hollywood as releasing the statement, “A couple months ago, I let FOX and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me… I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.” She is further quoted as stating, “It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for… I loved the experience working on ‘Idol’ and I am very grateful for the year I had. New Orleans 2010-07-19 19:04:27 (GMT) WiredPRNews.com – Recent developments may mean a reopening of the Gulf oil well that was capped on Thursday to stop the massive oil spill that lasted several weeks prior. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), BP and the Obama administration provided varying observations about the circumstances Sunday regarding the need for reopening the well. As noted in the report, the government’s plan to pipe oil to surface ships may lead to a few more days of spillage to ensure that the situation is not worsened and the leak is effectively stopped. However, BP has reportedly proposed a seemingly different view for what the next steps should be. Doug Suttles, BP’s chief operating officer, is quoted by the AP as stating, “No one associated with this whole activity … wants to see any more oil flow into the Gulf of Mexico… Right now we don’t have a target to return the well to flow.” Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, spill response chief for the Obama administration, is further quoted as stating in a news release, “While we are pleased that no oil is currently being released into the Gulf of Mexico and want to take all appropriate action to keep it that way, it is important that all decisions are driven by the science… Ultimately, we must ensure no irreversible damage is done which could cause uncontrolled leakage from numerous points on the sea floor.” Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston reportedly back on Juneau, Alaska 2010-07-19 03:10:53 (GMT) WiredPRNews.com – Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have reportedly gotten engaged. Sarah Palin and her husband Todd are quoted by the AP as releasing the statement following the announcement, “Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives… We pray that, as a couple, Bristol and Levi’s relationship matures into one that will allow Tripp to grow up graced with two loving parents in his life.” Twitter dabbles in advertising with promoted tweets
The social networking site finally integrates advertising into its site. San Francisco (WiredPRNews.com)2010-04-14 13:45:45 (GMT) – Popular social networking site Twitter has finally integrated advertising into its site, but in limited form. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the site is introducing “promoted tweets,” which will be displayed only on searches on the site, and only a limited number of test marketers will be included. As noted in the report, the messages will be a means for the site to generate revenue while continuing to provide users with the benefit of not having to deal with commercial interruptions. An example of one promoted tweet by Starbucks that has already garnered attention is quoted by the AP as stating, “On 4/15 bring in a reusable tumbler and we’ll fill it with brewed coffee for free. Let’s all switch from paper cups.”
