Researchers Say Exercises Can Reduce Parkinson’s Effects WiredPRNews.com Scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh and University of Southern California discovered that exercise can slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease (known as “PD”). The studies suggest that regular physical activity can help to reduce damage to neurons in the brain that causes Parkinson’s disease. “Parkinson’s disease is an illness that affects muscle movement,” says Kay Mixson Jenkins, author of the new children’s book Who Is Pee Dee? “Anything that can help to maintain normal muscle tone and flexibility is extremely important.” Ms. Jenkins was diagnosed with PD when she was just thirty-four. She decided to write her book to help her children understand the disease. The story follows a young boy named Colt as he tries to deal with his mother’s chronic illness. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects nearly 1.5 million Americans; approximately 50,000 are diagnosed with the disease every year. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Exercise has important benefits for everyone regardless of age or physical condition… When your condition threatens to immobilize you, exercise keeps you moving… To retain your mobility and function, use it or lose it.” Exercises cannot stop Parkinson’s disease progression, but based on the study, regular physical activity can help PD patients to: “Unfortunately, there is no cure yet for Parkinson’s disease,” says Ms. Jenkins. “I believe that exercise can help to delay the progression of Parkinson’s and improve emotional well-being, which is very important for PD patients.” Kay Mixson Jenkins is the Georgia state co-coordinator for the Parkinson’s Action Network, leads the Effingham County Parkinson’s support group and was selected as a Parkinson’s patient advocate for UCB, Inc. Heart disease signs found in mummiesOrlando, Florida (WiredPRNews.com) – New research suggests that modern risks factors for heart disease such as eating fast food aren’t the only culprits of heart disease. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), researchers recently found evidence of heart disease in ancient mummies using a CT scan. Dr. Michael Miyamoto of the University of California at San Diego, a researcher on the study, is quoted by the AP as stating of the findings, “We were struck by the similar appearance of vascular calcification in the mummies and our present-day patients… Perhaps the development of atherosclerosis is a part of being human.” The social status of the mummified
individuals is suggested to have played a role in their developing high
blood pressure and related health issues. Dr. Randall Thompson, a
cardiologist at the Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, who was
also a researcher on the study, is further quoted by the AP as stating,
“Rich people ate meat, and they did salt meat, so maybe they had
hypertension (high blood pressure), but that’s

AMBER Alert Issued for 13 Year Old Florida Girl
Posted: Monday May 5, 2009 2:01 PM CT The State of Florida issued the Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon (05-09) after the girl was reportedly abducted in Homestead earlier Tuesday. Krystal Borrego a white female, 13 years old, 5' 2" tall with brown hair and brown eyes and weighs 130 pounds. The suspect is an unknown black male. The suspect vehicle is a 1990's, dark red two door Saturn. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homestead Police Department at 1-305-247-1535 or dial 911.
Allyson Corrales has been missing from her residence in Kansas City, Missouri, since March 6, 2009. She may be in the company of her father, Luis Corrales. Allyson's mother, who was found deceased on March 6, 2009, was not married to Luis Corrales. He did not have any custodian rights to Allyson and the mother had a Full Order of Protection against him

Adji reportedly went outside to play with neighborhood kids after dinner. He was reported missing a little while later and his whereabouts remain unknown. REMARKS Adji was last seen wearing a blue and yellow t-shirt, blue and yellow shorts, and black and gray sneakers. He is mentally handicapped and functions at a two-year-old level. He has very limited vocabulary and is non-verbal. REWARD The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Adji Desir. Lluvia Cortez is an Hispanic female, 1 year old with brown eyes and brown hair, two feet tall and weighs approximately 30 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, red and pink pants with hearts, and black shoes. The suspect is Alejandro Cortez, an Hispanic male, 30 years old, 5' 2", approximately 220 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweat suit.
