The Eagles NestThis eagle nest has survived many disasters for several years. Located in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, where hurricane Charlie made landfall, Friday, August 13th, 2004. A wide swath of Florida, was devastated by hurricane Charlie, but this Pine tree, and eagle nest, miraculously survived one of the strongest storms to come through the area. Hurricane Charlie, broke off or uprooted pine trees from one side of the state of Florida to the other, but this one, and a few others in the area are still standing; through the several storms to pass this way since Charlie's wrath. January 2005
Five years ago, this eagle was keeping an eye on us. We are using telephoto technology to keep from disturbing it while sitting on the eggs. Eagles have as many as three eggs per year. Both the male and female take turns incubating the eggs. April 2009
Currently, the old bird was keeping an eye on us from a different tree than the nest was in.
Still in the nest, was this young eagle.
Joined by it's sibling, the feed begins. Eagles Occupy habitats from Florida to California and the forests of New England, northern birds are migratory, while southern birds are resident, remaining on their breeding territory all year. That Strange Eagle
